Castagniccia which means in Corsican " standing region of sweet chestnut trees " is imperative itself above the oriental plain and above the Cortenais with its numerous hills and small leafy mountains.
It is San Petrone which down from its 1767m dominates the whole valley with its incomparable panorama. It is possible to reach its rocky summit from the pass of Prato either Campana's village.
