According to the legend, the Flood would have gobbles up an antique town only. The vestiges of a Roman port were found. Before its disappearance, the port was of use to the local fishing, but especially to the fleet of Misène which the Roman naval base was situated near Naples.
Today, in the middle of the pond appears the island of the fishermen.
