Bocognano, ancestral stopping-off place, is the administrative centre of Celavo-Mezzana's canton.
The village is built in ledge, surrounded with magnificent chestnut groves and dominated by « Monte d?Oro and Renoso.
The village organizes , in December, the biggest fair of Corsica, the fair in the sweet chestnut.
In the village one can see "u palazzu di Napulio", whose construction had been ordered in 1797. It was finished only in 1859, and Napoleon never had the occasion to live there.
