Santa-Maria-di-Lota is a municipality near Bastia. Between San-Martino-di-Lota and Brando on the east coast south of Cap Corse, down from its territory Monte Prunu and Monte Capra.

The town lies on the north shore of Miomu, stream flowing cervical Saint-Jean (802 m). The picturesque coastal road D80, crossed the Marine Miomu. This hamlet is home to several residential houses and an ancient Genoese tower of the sixteenth century on the pebble beach. This very well preserved, is classified a historical monument and is attached to a small old chapel. The RD80 is coupled with a local road, known as the Corniche "because it serves the area of the Corniche (A Curnice).

The RD31 rises in the valley Miomu towards the hamlets of Piedmont and San-Martino-di-Lota. She serves with the RD431 and some local roads:

Senior of Miomu (Campu of Undicu, Surbinca A);

Partin: houses the chapel of the Annunciation (and his triptych of the Annunciation of the sixteenth century);

Figarella: has many "house of the Americans, with carved doors, a castle of the nineteenth century, a large church of that time devoted to St. Anthony and a chapel located in the outskirts of the village;

Mandriali: houses a Genoese bridge saddle dated seventeenth century and the Church of the Assumption (sixteenth century);

San Ghjacintu: site of the small Franciscan convent Saint-Hyacinthe, which includes the Romanesque chapel of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and now houses a community of Polish nuns.

One can still note the Chapel of St. John built the collar of Saint John, toward which runs an annual pilgrimage.

The port was once used to export iron ore.

The main festival takes place August 15 (St. Mary). In addition, there are many ceremonies during Holy Week. Holy Thursday is dedicated to making fùgacce (cakes) and the next day, Good Friday, a procession goes around the Pieve of Lota with religious objects made of palm leaves.
