They represent the majority of the islands economic activity of regional income and 78% of the jobs.
The government is the first employer of the island. More than 30% of the work force are employed by the administration, local communities and other commercial services.
The services market have for their part close importance of that observed by the rest of the country but especially oriented towards private than business for example trough hotel and restaurant activities.
Whole sellers and retailers have a larger percentage than the national average almost 4 out of 10 communities have a food shop. In the cities we count 7 mega markets 49 supermarkets in 1998. This commercial density doesn't cease to increase especially in upper Corsica.
